We are back!

Hallo God's people!

Lord's Greetings. We thank Him for giving us this new year, the year when there are catalogues of activities to do ahead of us; the year when we should, by any means, see change in the house. The evil is deep rooted in that 'old' house and it is naive to say that it will be easily uprooted. It could be so if its root would have remained dry as we saw in the beginning of the just over summer. It lacked water and its distraction was happening to be true. But since that month of frustration, it worked hard to get revived and invested much to spare its position. Here are some of the activities carried:

1. The most visible measures it took are what we called (in our previous blog) the LIAR: Lessening, Intimidation, Arbiter, Reconcilation. It lessened the case into something caused by 'some trouble makers' who have 'political agenda' and 'wanted to satisfy their economic thirsty' out of the chaos. Quite big amount of money was invested to propagate this point. Working hard to lessen the issue, the 'owners' of the house have also used their muscle to intimidate those who are categorized as 'dangers' of the house.

2. Riding the stage with government officials: much has been said about the involvement of the government in the April's turmoil. There were some who said that government security forces intimidated the fathers in that horrible night. It might be or might not be. We don't know for sure. But this is what we know - the government is reluctant to examine the crime done to the fathers who were running their 'state' (EOTC) in their 'Parlament' (the Holy Synod). They were doing their jobs legally. But something illegal has been done to them. And the government had to act as a responsible body searching for the criminals and put them in court. However we couldn't meet our expectation which may add our suspicion that the government or its part had a hidden hand in that ugly action of that ugly night. The 'house' is benefiting much from all these speculations and suspicions. It keeps using the government's face to intimidate its 'enemies'. Those who were supporting the change movement have been intimidated by either the ninjas or government officials or both.

We saw this stamp of strategy straight out on ETV when the government supported the house with its intimidation of the institution which is called (by many) the hope of EOTC in the 21st century. According to the news, the government officials warned the association that it should respect the law and distant
itself from politics and administration. The news is confusing and we expect it will be clarified either by the association or the government. As usual we might not question if the government warns its citizens or institutions in the country not to touch politics. Because not it is true but that is what we are accustomed with as citizens of that country. But how on earth a government warns an institution to refrain itself from acting within its boundary??? Funny. And till when we are going to see 'Governod' (Governmental Synod)? Where is freedom of religion then???

We hear and read much about this institution called Mahibere Kidusan. Without evaluating its achievements compairing with its potential, no one could deny that this is an institution (built by willing, non-paid, educated youths) which is trying to address the variegated problems of our church. Let alone a bigger faith based institution like Mahibere Kidusan who is playing in the middle of the field, an Orthodox individual will be churned by the today's complicated problems of the church. We hope members of this association know this very well. Given their devoution and eagerness to serve the today's church, their existence in the field might not be useful unless the field is opportune for the game. So they should work hard to make the field okay for the much desired game we want to see our church play in the centuries to come. It is the period for them to be tested. We are hopeful that the management of the association and thousands of its members do not want to see a bigger Orthodox institution while the main body is getting small and in agony to die. So it is the time for the relatively experienced Mahibere Kidusan to start acting to spare our ecclessiastic instituion - bete kihinet. We witness that the association contributed much to spare the church. But now is the time to spare the instituion which plays a significant role to 'kill' the church. The ninjas should be driven out of that instituition so that the house can live its cause!!! Let us joing hands.

Yes this is the time for this mahiber to be tested. Diplomacy and safehaven is over. No chance except fighting to save the church than own safety. Let us help and move forward.

I agree that this is the time for this mahiber to be tested and win the devil with the help of God and Saints. Moreover, we shall point out how to help this association and our church in general. This is not about the association, but it all about our faith, church and LIFE.

I share the same story with Admasu. I had taken many of the MK teachings in my stay in university. I have many of the texts published by MK and I use them to guide my life. I was not blessed to join them after graduation, because I have quite busy due to government responsibilities. But I try to apply all the Christian principles that can bring social and economic development. I am transparent in my job, I do not blame during hardships, I try to be free of corruption etc. The spiritual principles that MK deserve helped to be efficient in my public service. Even if I am not MK member, I read their periodical publications. I often see their excellent accomplishments in many parts of EOTC. For example, I can witness that the changes they brought in monasteries: one of the many projects they are doing. For those who want to see their good deeds, I suggest them to go and see Haik Stifanos wo abune Eyesus Moa monastery. Another example is I came across many traditional schools in rural area which are near to closing while survived by the solely support of MK otherwise we will never see them at all. One day I got the chance visit one school teacher and let him to tell me their challenges. He experessed his feeling by saying I would not be here know without the support of MK. He told me that MK is giving me monthly salary including the students and they are planning to implement a sustainable project.
I do not want to be judgmental in both sides of the controversy. But, I can say that in human history people may die because of either true or false allegations. Jesus Christ and His disciples died with false critics. The same is true for the other side. Here, I want to say that the issues raised by the patriarch are not truly comfortable as a spiritual father: a father who needs to feed his kids with pleasure in periods of discomfort. I wished I would do it in front of church congregations instead of seeking public face. I am sorry I would not do it at all. For me it is bizarre, because where are they for the last twenty years? Why did not audit every year? Is really MK involved in political issues; which side? Why does not the patriarch go out and reach priests in rural areas, fathers and mothers in monasteries who do have even drinking water? What is the need to involve public officials if there is an issue which needs to be discussed? I did not see the patriarch holding a meeting with public officials in times of great church crises: like the Christians burned in Jimma. The message is clear and I want to leave my own suggestion.
If something is gonna happen on MK, the first person hurt will be the patriarch. Because he is not doing what he is supposed to do. Globalization is running as fast as it was predicted. Western traditions including religions are diffusing very quickly. He shall seek change for himself as a leader to reach out the different issues needed to be done today. Rather these young individuals are working 24 hours to fill the gap that the church failed to bridge. They are volunteer individuals for that matter who abandon their wives/husbands, kids, relatives, their personal and social d working day and night to keep the long lasting traditions of EOTC. I think the Patriarch clearly knows this, but he failed to go in their annual meetings, he failed to handle gossip, he failed to see himself like most of us, he failed to show as practical endeavor, he failed to travel as fast as his kids. So, MK members should not regret for the association as long as the Patriarch doesn’t want its existence. God will send timely individuals and accomplish his timely job.
I know everybody is not perfect and I welcome any feedback for my comment.

To Zmekane...

I share your views, too. I also held a top government position though didn't get a chance to work with Mahibre Kidusan. When I was in the university, its philosophies and teachings shaped me who I am today. Serve the general public equally with dignity irrespective of the person's background. I think the patriarch is surrounded by bad advisors. Who else can respect him as a patriarch if starts to fight with Mahibere Kidusan? Did he realize he is fast facilitating his demise? Quite millions of people do not believe he is the head of the church due to his actions (as the old saying goes “Actions speak louder than words” recently, he starts to speak up but worthless). In my view Mahibre Kidusan is the one still offers the respect whether he deserves or not. Father please listen to people who criticizes you not the people who offers you “Kentu Wedasie”. Have peace with your children rather than “monks” who dwells Satan in their heart. You are your choice!
